ENG

I THOUGHT I’D MISS YOU is the second chapter of The Songbook Chronicles EP4 – Transmuting: it’s a Funk track, with Bass, Drums, Wha Guitar and Clavinet laying down the groove.

“All the gurus say that we should let it go…”. Easier said than done. One thing is for sure: dancing to this track will help you doing so, as when you dance, sing and make love you’re (mostly) in the moment and mind chatter quiets down.

ITA

lyrics

I THOUGHT I’D MISS YOU (S. Cocchi)

Are you ready?
We’re never ready!

I never felt this way before you know
Maybe it might have happened once or twice
I’ve been surfing all these wave s
In an up and down world
I have swum in fire and I have dug the ice

Scars on our skin, wounds in our mind
We fear there is no way they may be healed
Walking through the peaks we can’t see the top
The fog is so thick like our fate, sealed

A big storm is on it’s way
Better find a shelter or a breakaway
The wind is so strong that we can hardly move
How about just standing still
Is there anything that we gotta prove?

They say the sun will come to shine We know
double rainbows may appear after the rain
And all the gurus say that we should let it go
But when there’s something in our mind
That we want to leave behind
It ain’t easy to just face the void it brings

I thought that you were liberating me
Giving me a higher point of view
But I was just clinging to the shallow vision we see
When we’re giving in to all the chances we blew

I wonder if I can
Be a shelter in the storm for another man
We’re talking way too much about peace of mind
It’s a matter of what are we ready to leave behind

They say the sun will come to shine We know
double rainbows may appear after the rain
And all the gurus say that we should let it go
But when there’s something in our mind
That we want to leave behind
It ain’t easy to just face the void it brings

Breaking away from all the past and all the shame
Right here, right now, like this is where I am today
Good and bad I’ll take it all
I’m Moving on I’m moving on

They say the sun will come to shine We know
double rainbows may appear after the rain
And all the gurus say that we should let it go
I believe that we can transmutate the pain

SirJo Cocchi Milano, Italy

I'm a singer-songwriter, atypical keyboardist and producer, I'm based in Milan, Italy and my sound is a SoulFunkPop trip where I mix modern and vintage. I started singing as a kid and developed a vertical, grooving approach to the keyboard also because I was born with dysmelia in my left hand. The Songbook Chronicles is my current project, a series of 6 interconnected thematic EPs. ... more
