ENG
I remember being with a a friend in the island of Mallorca, south of Spain. We were coming back from a beach at sundown.
He always says that the most beautiful sundowns happen after a cloudy day: the show I had in front of me proved him right. Beams of sunlight were hitting the clouds at different angles, we had so many degrees of orange and red that soon turned into purple, pink, violet.
I thought it’s a great metaphor for life as well, so I wrote this song that it’s a mix of Motown grooves and modern synths, with the Wurlitzer piano, wha-wha guitar and organ giving it its vintage feel.

ITA

lyrics

NO CLOUDS NO SHOW (S. Cocchi)

Life may have been clouds and heavy rain
It has swallowed the joy
And spat it out as pain
Hands have been trembling
and bells have been ringing
Doubts enveloping every song that I’ve been singing

And now I can clearly remember
When you told me not so long ago
When there’s no clouds at the end of the day
Sundown ain’t no, sunsdown ain’t no show

Many a time I have read and heard
Bliss is what to seek for
Like mealworms to the bird
Cloud nine is alive
It floats and it moves
I try to hold on to it but nothing really improves

And now I can clearly remember
When you told me not so long ago
When there’s no clouds at the end of the day
Sundown ain’t no, sunsdown ain’t no show

Misgiving is certain
I thought I was control
The flea in me was leaping yeah
While the rabbit stayed in the hole
But reality is misty
Like her eyes staring at Orion
In a blink of an eye
The flea turns into a lion

And now I can clearly remember
When you told me not so long ago
When there’s no clouds at the end of the day
Sundown ain’t no show

SirJo Cocchi Milano, Italy

I'm a singer-songwriter, atypical keyboardist and producer, I'm based in Milan, Italy and my sound is a SoulFunkPop trip where I mix modern and vintage. I started singing as a kid and developed a vertical, grooving approach to the keyboard also because I was born with dysmelia in my left hand. The Songbook Chronicles is my current project, a series of 6 interconnected thematic EPs. ... more
