ENG

NOTHING ABOUT HER is the fourth chapter of The Songbook Chronicles EP4 – Transmuting: it’s a modern Funk anthem, celebrating the coming of Spring and its beauties (in the Southern hemisphere), while at the same time being an invitation to keep in mind that “A wise man governs his eyes, not because it is wrong to delight in beauty, but because otherwise his delight may suffer transmutation into something very different.” — Dr. J. Budziszewski —

The song has a 40 seconds intro that sets the atmosphere (“Hey, but it’s not the 70’s or the 80’s, the Chorus should come within a minute or you’ll loose the attention of the listener!” “…”) and features a mix of contemporary beat-making and synths with a traditional drumset played with a tight groove, clavinet and other assorted vintage sounds.

“We’re electromagnetic fields showing our feathers like birds!”

lyrics

Nothing about her (SirJo Cocchi)

Spring finally came flowers are here
That who once was a seed became so tall
And it’s sitting right here in front of me
You just cannot pretend you didn’t notice
When she looked your way
It’s not that hard to go astray

You think she just gave you a sign
But you are just another fool in line

She looks like a queen, she’s the prettiest you’ve seen
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her
And now she gets in her groove and she really knows how to move
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her

It’s true at times we don’t need words
We’re electromagnetic fields showing our feathers like birds

You feel that she could be your sliding door
Even if you’ve never seen her before

She looks like a queen, she’s the prettiest you’ve seen
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her
And now she gets in her groove and she really knows how to move
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her
And she’ll get in your dreams and in your unconscious stream
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her

Why do we need to conquer others to conquer ourselves?
It’s like we never have enough we gotta prove that we can pass every test

And she may not look hip, but she can take you on a wonderful trip
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her
And she ain’t sophisticated but you can tell she’s been underrated
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her
And you wish you could call her cause you’re sure you’d make her wanna holler
But you know nothing about her, nothing about her

SirJo Cocchi Milano, Italy

I'm a singer-songwriter, atypical keyboardist and producer, I'm based in Milan, Italy and my sound is a SoulFunkPop trip where I mix modern and vintage. I started singing as a kid and developed a vertical, grooving approach to the keyboard also because I was born with dysmelia in my left hand. The Songbook Chronicles is my current project, a series of 6 interconnected thematic EPs. ... more
